BOZ CHRONICLES #9

FEBRUARY 28, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It’s been almost a week since I updated you and a lot of you have
reached out to us.  Many positive things have happened since I last
updated you.  Today Robert escaped from ICU to a regular room with
a few tubes in tow. Most of you know how fast he is-so he is “outta
there." Hopefully he will be fully paroled within 36 hours.

He is now totally "dialed in" on is iphone and iPad so shoot him a message if you like.
With Mary and Jocelyn’s help he is meeting with his staff; and El Jefe is in control at
Gnat's and Bubba's.  Robert's attitude is incredible.  As expected he is a
bit tired, but there is an abundance of energy reserved for HUMOR.

Within a few days he will begin the next phase of his treatment after
an evaluation at Emory.  We don’t know if this will be inpatient or
outpatient.  We will let you know as soon as possible, since many of you
live near Atlanta.

Please pass the word along about Boz's Buzz if someone wants to watch for updates.  Just go to www.gnatslanding.com and go to the link for Boz Buzz.   If anyone
would like to send a card please send it to:

Thank you for all support especially the gang on SSI
(LT, MT, SCW, DLS, NNS, AJG, MPR, TR, JB and many more) with meals etc, you and we

Boz Chronicles #7

FEBRUARY 20, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

What a couple of days we have had. When the doctors said getting off the
ventilator would take baby steps, and it's a give and take process, they
meant it!!

WELL, they were right; and it worked!
Robert got off the ventilator this morning!

All of Robert's other signs are good, but he is still in ICU for now.

There have been a number of visitors who traveled long distances
to visit with the “BOZ,” who came out LAUGHING!
You can’t make this stuff up.
Robert has mastered writing on the white board and talking some too.

Mary and all the kids are juggling their schedules visiting, working, and
minding the store at Bubba's and Gnat's.

Everyone in St. Simons has been incredibly generous and helpful since
February 6, 2012, when Robert checked into the hospital, so thank you!
We still need to keep Robert calm, so we will let you know when we
can ease the visitation schedule. Thanks for your prayers.

If you would like to send a card, please send to:

BOZ CHRONICLES #6

FEBRUARY 17, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nothing has changed much from our last update. They
continue to try and wean him from the ventilator and we are making
progress. He is awake often and writes questions, as Mary is there with
Robert all day. All of his vital signs are good and there are no other
problems with organs etc.

It is still critical that Robert stay calm,
so we are staying with “family only” for personal visits.
Robert is still in ICU and the waiting room is public
so flowers, etc are not appropriate right now.

If you would like to send a card it would be best sent it to the business:
Gnat's Landing
310 Redfern Village
St Simons Island, GA 31522

Robert and Mary will be meeting with an Oncologist in the next few of
days to discuss where to go next.

Someone saw the picture of the Goose from Robert’s previous business
and discovered the following verse from Psalms 91:4 that I think you
will appreciate.

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find
refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."

Please continue to check Boz's Buzz for these updates.

If you live on SSI go eat at Gnats or Bubbas and visit with Jocelyn.

On behalf of the whole family thank you for your support.

BOZ CHRONICLES #5

FEBRUARY 14, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Yesterday and today the Medical team really focused on getting Robert off
the ventilator.  We made good progress yesterday, but it is a give and
take process made up of baby steps. Every other aspect of his health is
stable and normal; we just now have to get him strong enough to deal
with the cancer.

Robert's valentines Mary, Madeline, Emily, Keith, Carlton and Jocelyn
are all good as we settle into a routine and try to take up day to day
activities. Gnat's Landing and Bubba Garcia’s continue
to be the favorite of locals and visitors as the staff steps up to prove to
Boz they can “do it” in his brief absence!

The sincerity of the visits and email continues to be overwhelming.
It is interesting how many people know Boz and therefore he must
remember them! You all know this because he treats everyone that
way, when in fact no one could remember this many people.

It’s fun seeing the competition of who can bring the "best" food.  I guess
they think they might earn a spot on Gnats menu! There are too many
people to call out by name but THANKS for everything!

Please try and check before you come by the hospital or send food.
Mary and Robert's good friend, Lucy Thomas, has taken on managing
the food schedule, so thanks go to Lucy.

At this time Robert can’t have visitors.
He has done well with some visitors up until now, but he really needs to stay calm
thru the ventilator weaning process.  You know he might to try
and communicate or tell a joke.

Robert's buddy, Father Goose, from his toy store even got in on the act.

Thanks for your prayers and support.

Please tell your friends to keep up with Robert through
www.gnatslanding.com, then click the link Boz's Buzz.
Happy Valentine's Day!

BOZ CHRONICLES #4

FERBRUARY 12, 2012

FOR IMMIEDIATE RELEASE

It’s Sunday and Robert is having a better day. Mary’s Brother Bud was
a huge help today and conferred with 4 different Drs concerning every
aspect of Robert's treatment. The Drs decided to put another chest
tube in his right side and the remaining fluid drained immediately.

There is no more specific information about the cancer because the
tests are very complicated and weekends are slow in the hospital.

It is great seeing so many people Robert knows, from high school
friends, kids he taught, and former employees. We had a great visit with our brother Cliff
today, and all the kids are here too.

Thanks to all the Docs that have come out on a Saturday!  Thanks to Dr Jones (cardiologist),
Dr. Scott (thoracic surgeon), Dr. Sudduth (ICU Pulmonary), Dr.Reynolds
(radiology) and Mary’s Brother Dr. Hamrick!!

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

BOZ CHRONICLES #3

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It’s Saturday and we got to visit with Boz. They woke him up early this
morning and he was totally aware of his surroundings. He is still on the
ventilator and medically nothing has changed.

He scribbled some notes and questions because he has been asleep
since Tuesday night, as you can imagine they were classic Boz.

The union doesn’t allow the signage or hand sanitizer refill crew to
work on Saturday even though they pay them so they were not here to
entertain us. The janitorial crew was here and we now all know exactly
which swiffer cover fits which handle. Unfortunately for y'all we are
going to keep that secret because we own stock in that company and
if anyone ever figures out which towelette fits which handle,
their stock will tumble.

Thanks again for all your prayers, thoughts and FOOD!

Tell your friends to visit Boz's Buzz for this same info...

BOZ CHRONICLES #2

FERUARY 10, 2012

FOR IMMIEDIATE RELEASE

The test results for cancer came back positive. Cancer cells
were found in the fluid that was drawn from the heart sack on Tuesday
night. His body’s battle with the cancer helps explains the difficulty in
breathing and getting off the ventilator. Our challenge now is to get
him off the ventilator so we can determine the origin of the cancer and
begin a new fight.

Robert has been awake on and off all day with no shortage of Boz
gestures, shrugs and raised eyebrows. It’s awesome when he can’t wise
crack back or throw a pun at you!

Today has been a rough day but thank goodness the signage crew
reappeared today to entertain us. We shudder to think what and who
they will send to refill the 500 hand sanitizing dispensers! Probably
some moon craft with a robotic arm and high pressure pump system.

Thank you all for your prayers and support.

THE BOZ CHRONICLES #1

FEBRUARY 9, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

As many of you have heard “Boz” is in the hospital. A week ago he had
what was thought to be a sinus infection. While there they discovered a
heart rate of 160 BPM. He went to the cardiologist and was treated for
pericardia which usually results from some type of infection. He had a
number of tests and was treated with medication. Over last weekend
and into Sunday he had sudden increase in fluid in his chest cavity and
was admitted to the hospital on Monday morning (Feb 6, 2012). On
Tuesday the fluid had built up so much he struggled to breathe on
his own so they drained the heart sack and put him on a ventilator
that night. They have sent the fluid for culture and testing to try and
determine its origin. Yesterday he was stable but is completely sedated.
Last night they continued to remove fluid with a tube and diuretics.
Today Feb 9, 2012 the Dr’s see some slight improvement but he is still
heavily sedated.

The Dr’s believe the most likely cause is some type of infection but have
said it is possible they may never exactly know. The Dr’s are all dialed
in and keeping us informed. They expect him to recover but he is very
sick.

If you are worried that we are bored sitting in the waiting room-WORRY
NO MORE! Since 7AM this morning 2 supervisors in uniform have
exhausted themselves for the last 6 hours trying to decide where to
place the new signage such as RESTROOM, WAITING, and ELEVATORS.
I am attaching examples of the new and old because several of us got lost trying to make our way the 20 feet to these locations and your input is desired. Once the location decisions were made a team of
painters, adhesive experts and sheet rockers descended just in time
for lunch.

They are now back and at it in earnest and I must say it is
exhausting work! I mean come on folks are hurting in America not to
mention right down the hall, I wish I ran this hospital!!

On behalf of the Boz family, your out pouring of support is
overwhelming and appreciated. We will try and post something on the
web site each day until Boz comes home.

On a lighter note, “git yo ass down to Gnats and have a meal cuz Boz is
standing at the end of the bar watching”!

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Super Bowl!

Head up to Gnat's tonight to watch the big game!  Stay tuned for drink and food specials!
