Boz Chronicles # 11

March 19th, 2012

Boz had his first appointment at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory with his doctor, DR. SURESH RAMALINGHAM.  First, it should be noted that Winship is an amazing place where the doctors and staff assist and care for so many people living with cancer.  As Boz noticed several people in the waiting room, heads shaven, he observed that despite everything that they were dealing with, they displayed great beauty, strength, and optimism which only gave him more confidence and hope in his own plans for treatment.  When Mary and Boz met with Dr. "Ram" this afternoon, they learned that all of the results from the recent biopsy were  not yet back; however Dr. "Ram" did encourage Boz to wait until all of the results were back, so that the most effective treatment plan could then be decided upon by Boz.  All of the available treatment options, both standard and available clinical trials were explained thoroughly, so that when all of the information comes back from the labs, Boz and Dr. "Ram" will be ready to begin the appropriate treatment.  Since Boz had secretively prepared himself for the worst possible information, he was indeed relieved to feel that Dr. "Ram" himself portrayed a sense of positivity and hope that Boz indeed has a fighting chance.  Boz's overall appearance and growing strength since his initial hospitalization did not go unnoticed by Dr. "Ram", as he indicated to Boz that all cancer patients react differently to treatments and that it seemed obvious to him that Boz has a resiliency that will surely help him significantly with his fight against cancer.
Boz and Mary will return to Winship in a couple of weeks to begin
the next journey toward better health.

Your continued prayers and support are greatly appreciated by Boz, Mary, and all of the family!

Old You- White Rabbit

Old You tonight at Gnat's!

Live music tonight at Gnat's with Old You from Charleston, SC! 8pm

Here's a little about them:

From Charleston's underground music scene rises Old You, a band that has refused to confine their style to the restrictions of a sigle genre. The young group of four has combined elements of funk, soul, jazz, and acid rock to forge a sound that has captivated audiences around Charleston, SC, as well as the rest of the Southeast.

For the past three years, Old You has generated a tremendous following through word of mouth and constant gigging. "Old You has become a malleable bar band with a positive attitude and an ever-growing repertoire," writes T. Ballard Lesseman of Charleston City Paper. "They've balanced the weekly money gigs with carefully scheduled shows at other more music-oriented venues that feature original, local and touring bands."

Boz Chronicles #10

March 6, 2012

Boz finally made it to Emory....6:00 pm Sunday night, he departed the hospital in Brunswick aboard "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride"  ambulance by way of Highway 57 and two stops for gas (don't ambulances fill up before picking up the patient?).  Boz said that the driver got lost getting into Atlanta and was bumping down a dirt road before arriving to Emory hospital  just before midnight.  Jocelyn and Mary arrived shortly thereafter.  It was a long day!

Monday, Boz, Mary, and Jocelyn met the infamous Dr. Ramalingam, the chief thoracic oncologist, also Dr. Kucuk, Kris (the PA), and a host of nurses and techs.  The facility is quite impressive.  Boz has been receiving great care, as he endures a little more poking and testing, so Dr. "Ram" can determine a course of treatment.  Hopefully in a day or two, Boz will head home for a little rest before beginning his treatment.  He is ready to see the ocean!

Thanks to everyone for your continued prayers and support.
Boz and the family appreciate all the love you've shown over the past several weeks.
